Developing values for a team is hard. In church, sometimes we develop biblical values and stop there. But I think often we overlook another set of values that determine success for a team; culture values.
Culture is being developed whether we are doing it on purpose or not. They are the things that determine how your team interacts and gets work done. They are vital.
But they are hard to develop. It comes from a leader examining what it takes to be successful in their specific group or organization.
Below are the values I use for my team. Feel free to take them and make them your own!
We Lead With Vision
We don’t lead with budget. We don’t lead with fear of risk.
We paint a picture of the future and lead with that.
We Value the Team
Working as a team is always harder, but it’s worth it.
The Team beats the lone-genius every time.
We Value Feedback
What you do isn’t who you are, so seek feedback on what you do.
Give feedback Thats specific, Regular & Defined.
We Submit Structure to Spirit
Structure should never inhibit moves of the spirit or creative ideas.
It’s always Better to try something new than stick with what’s “always worked”
We Work Hard and Work Ahead
We push hard in seasons and create space to rest in other seasons.
We also come to the team prepared ahead of time.
We Are Not Experts
We cary a posture of humility and honor toward one another.
We yield often and always have something to learn.
We Are Unoffendable
We love each other greater than what we are working on.
The creatives cary a posture of humility when asking for production.
Production strives to have a posture of “yes” toward the creatives.
